Disability Awareness and Etiquette for Non-Profits

Disability Awareness and Etiquette Training is useful when you as an employer want staff  to become more comfortable interacting with co-workers and customers with disabilities. Melissa's disability Awareness and Etiquette training was developed from a grant she received from the Boston Globe Foundation well over a decade ago. She documented its development  and results in her book Getting It: Persuading Organizations and Individuals to Become More Comfortable with People with Disabilities.  She has presented this training to hundreds of audiences, including small , medium and large businesses; state agencies; municipalities; federal government agencies; colleges and universities; non-profit organizations; and public schools. The training, which can vary in length according to your needs, budget and time constraints takes a light-hearted approach to the serious subject of becoming more comfortable with people with disabilities. She uses props including masks and dolls to create a safe environment for participants to ask any questions that they have ever had regarding disability. Etiquette scenarios will be customized for your organization. The result is an impactful event t
hat changes how participants interact with employees and customers with disabilities.
